Does Tuck work on macOS 27 Golden Gate?
Yes. Tuck 1.0.53 is the stable release for macOS 27, with an OS-specific menu-bar backend. On macOS 26 and earlier supported systems, Tuck retains its existing backend. You do not need to choose a separate compatibility download.
Push, Shelf and dynamic icons
Push hides and reveals managed menu-bar items. Shelf brings hidden items into a panel below the menu bar, useful when space is limited by a MacBook notch. Both modes are included in Tuck Free, together with the global shortcut and launch at login.
Pro adds automation and customization, including 20 optional dynamic menu-bar icon styles. Push uses left and right directions; Shelf uses down and up according to whether the panel is visible. Turning dynamic icons off restores the ordinary or custom icon. App controls are available in nine languages.
Why Shelf needs screen-recording permission for original images
On macOS 27, Tuck captures and verifies menu-bar images before hiding the corresponding items. It retains the last valid images so opening Shelf does not repeatedly expand the whole menu bar. If a capture is incomplete, Tuck keeps native access available instead of silently hiding items with incomplete image coverage.
Accessibility is required for menu-bar interaction. Screen Recording is optional: without it, Shelf uses application icons. Cached images are snapshots, not a promise of continuously updating network-speed text or notification badges. Tuck does not upload the captured images.
What remains different on macOS 27?
- Core controls such as Wi-Fi, Sound, Control Center and the clock remain visible.
- Items belonging to the same application are managed together. Individual iStat Menus items cannot be independently hidden.
- Some third-party menu items may require Show All to access their native controls.
If an item is missing or unresponsive, follow the macOS 27 troubleshooting checklist before resetting settings or permissions.
Updating from Stable or an earlier compatibility build
The latest entry in both update feeds points to the same signed Tuck 1.0.53 package. After upgrading, Tuck uses the normal Stable update feed. If your update checker does not offer it, download the DMG here, quit Tuck, and replace the copy in Applications. Keep your existing settings and license; do not reset them just to update.
What changed in this release?
This release improves Shelf image retention, capture-before-hide handling, sleep/wake recovery and update handling. Local macOS 27 checks covered repeated cold starts, real sleep/wake, Shelf dismissal, Docker menu interaction and mode switching. Short tests do not guarantee every third-party configuration; report reproducible issues through support.
