Hide Icons

Hide menu bar icons on Mac without losing access.

Tuck gives the macOS menu bar a simple show/hide rhythm: keep focus while icons are tucked away, then reveal them when you need to check status or open a utility.

The quickest way

  1. Install Tuck and grant Accessibility when macOS asks.
  2. Click the Tuck menu bar item to hide icons to its left.
  3. Click again, or press ⌘⇧B, to bring the icons back.

This is Push Mode. It is included in the free tier and is the fastest way to hide menu bar icons on Mac without rebuilding your setup.

When you need more control

Some icons are always useful, some are only needed occasionally, and some can stay hidden until there is a problem. Tuck Pro adds per-icon rules so each item can always show, always hide, or follow the main toggle.

Always show

Keep status items you monitor constantly visible.

Always hide

Keep background utilities available but out of sight.

Toggle

Let the icon follow the main Tuck state.

Hover reveal

Peek at hidden icons without fully changing modes.

If you use a notched MacBook

The notch reduces practical menu bar space. Instead of forcing more icons into a narrow strip, Tuck can use Shelf Mode to display hidden icons below the menu bar on supported MacBooks.

Permissions and privacy

Tuck needs Accessibility to manage menu bar behavior. Screen Recording may be requested when opening Shelf so Tuck can identify visible menu bar icons. Tuck does not collect telemetry or analytics.
