Permissions

What Tuck's macOS permissions are for.

Tuck uses permissions for menu bar behavior, not tracking. This page explains Accessibility, Screen Recording, update checks, and license validation in plain language.

Accessibility

Tuck asks for Accessibility because macOS requires it for utilities that interact with system UI. In Tuck, Accessibility enables menu bar icon behavior and the global shortcut.

What it is not: Accessibility is not an analytics permission. It does not mean Tuck collects your activity or sends usage data.

Screen Recording

Tuck may ask for Screen Recording when you open Shelf Mode without permission. Shelf needs to identify menu bar icons accurately so hidden icons can appear in the panel below the menu bar.

The current onboarding flow separates permission requests: Accessibility is requested when you click the Accessibility button, and Screen Recording is requested when the Shelf path needs it.

Network access

Tuck does not include telemetry, analytics, or tracking. Network requests are limited to license validation and Sparkle update checks.
