Troubleshooting

Recover the Tuck workflow one layer at a time.

Start with the installed copy and permissions, then check icon discovery, the selected display mode, Pro access, and update channel.

Stable 1.0.38macOS 14–26Preview guidance separate

Start with the baseline

  1. Confirm Tuck is in Applications.
  2. Quit and reopen Tuck.
  3. Open Settings and confirm Accessibility.
  4. Press ⌘⇧B and click the Tuck icon once.
  5. Confirm the affected icons are physically to the left of Tuck.

Accessibility is enabled but Tuck cannot use it

Turn the Accessibility entry off and on, quit Tuck, and reopen it from Applications. If macOS still keeps stale permission state, use the recovery actions offered by Tuck's permission guidance, then grant access again.

Shelf previews are missing or wrong

Grant Screen Recording when Shelf asks, then reopen Shelf. Tuck uses the permission to identify visual icon content; it does not record, store, or upload the screen.

Reopen Shelf after changing Screen Recording so macOS and Tuck refresh the available icon previews.

A menu bar icon is missing

Reveal the group, relaunch the app that owns the icon, and refresh the icon scan. App updates may recreate a menu bar item with a new identity or return it to a different physical position.

The shortcut does not respond

Confirm Accessibility, then check whether another app already uses the same shortcut. Edit the Tuck shortcut or the conflicting app's shortcut and test again.

A Pro control is visible but inactive

Open the License tab and confirm Pro is active. Auto-Hide, Hover Reveal, Rules Mode, advanced reveal gestures, custom Shelf styles and order, custom icons, and spacing controls require Pro.

Secondary displays behave differently

macOS does not expose the same third-party menu bar management on secondary displays. Tuck's full hide and expand workflow targets the primary display; use the secondary-menu-bar cover option when appropriate.

Stable and Preview updates

Stable Tuck 1.0.38 build 45 is for macOS 14–26. Tuck 1.0.39 build 46 Preview 10 is only for macOS 27 Beta and uses a separate signed update feed. Read the Preview guide before changing channels.
