Arrange icons so Tuck manages the right group.

macOS already includes the drag gesture you need. Tuck uses its own position as the divider between managed icons and icons that remain visible.

The positioning rule

Icons to the left of Tuck are managed by Push Mode and Shelf Mode. Icons to the right stay in the menu bar.

Move an icon

  1. Hold the Command (⌘) key.
  2. Click and drag a menu bar icon.
  3. Drop it to the left of Tuck if you want Tuck to manage it, or to the right if it should remain visible.
  4. Release Command, then click Tuck to test the result.

Apple and third-party items

Some macOS and app items may resist movement, reappear after an app update, or be grouped by their owner. Move only the items macOS permits, then use Tuck's per-icon controls for the items it discovers.

If an icon disappears

Reveal the group with Tuck or ⌘⇧B. If an icon is still missing, relaunch its owning app and use the troubleshooting guide.
